Can we enjoy both??? Of course!
As the new year starts, it is so easy to get wrapped up in the exciting aspects of a new year: new living arrangements, new classes, new parties, etc. It seems like they all hit you at once, right? One day, it is the last day of summer and you are saying goodbye to your family and friends from back home and the next day, you’re one month into a completely new life. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the start of a new school year. I love the start of any new chapter that can lead to something exciting and unknown, but I do have to stop myself from time to time to really take time for myself because if I don’t, it will catch up to me.

Balance. Balancing every aspect of your life is hard. Do you ever think about all the things we juggle on a day-to-day basis? It is pretty amazing, honestly. From school, to fun, to friends, to family, to you-time…it is so much balancing and we all do it without even knowing it. There are times, like right now for me, where it seems like the balancing is impossible and everything is hitting you at once. A new year brings the challenges of choosing what to focus on and what needs to be on the back burner for a little. What we often forget, or at least I forget, is that it is okay to be overwhelmed or to take a step back from it all to take time for yourself. We all need me-time…I would go insane without it.

There is so much to see and do in life, but there comes a point when you have to realize you can’t possibly do everything and that’s okay. It is okay to miss the party or to go somewhere by yourself rather than with a group. It's okay to need alone time and it's also okay to go out and have the best time with the people you love. Balancing is hard and starting new is even harder, but we all do it all the time so props to us honestly. Props to you for being the boss babe I know you are. Go out and start something new or set something behind…either way I know you’ll do it with grace. Oh, and of course, always be kind.
XOXO,
Simply Complicated
